We have one opinion about the 8,000+ apps available on the Shopify App Store: many of them are built as side hustles or as opportunities to earn a little extra cash after a day job.

We're not against indie developers; in fact, we were once indie developers too. But we are against the idea that critical software can be built and maintained as a 'side hustle' when so much is at stake. Building and supporting a Shopify app should be a full-time commitment.

We believe software needs to be reliable, secure, and stable, serving as foundational tools that merchants can depend on to run their businesses smoothly. This is why we created NASP:Not A Side Project. Here's our take on the direction of our software:

  • Our team is fully dedicated to these products. This is not a side job; it’s our full-time focus.

  • We take uptime seriously, ensuring our applications withstand high traffic and high-volume days, like Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

  • We have a predictable change cycle to bring in new features and keep up with the latest Shopify updates, ensuring our software remains evergreen and never falls behind.

  • We charge reasonable prices: either a fixed fee or a fair usage-based model—never a percentage of your earnings.

We set out to bring a new standard of software to the Shopify community—software that merchants can rely on and Shopify agencies can confidently use for their clients. We're just getting started, and we're excited about what's to come.

Stay tuned.
